Milan Design Week is the world's top design concept, design results event, known as the Olympic of modern design. Milan Design Week is the birthplace of World Urban Design Week and has made Milan a globally recognized design capital. Milan International Furniture Fair held in the same period, founded in 1961, is the world's top furniture and home design exhibition, bringing together furniture, home, architecture, clothing, accessories, lamps and other fields of products, brands and design, is currently the world's largest furniture, home industry fair, is the promotion of Italian and international design vane.

Chinese design comes to Milan

For more than a decade, China has become one of the most important participating countries of Milan Design Week. Whether it is a furniture agency or furniture manufacturer in China, whether it is an architect or an interior designer, an industrial designer or even a graphic animation designer; From universities to the media, from local governments to industry associations, all are participating and participating in Milan Design Week in various ways. As of 2023, there have been more than 50 events related to the concept of "China Design".


CHINA & DESIGN

Starting in 2024, a new China concept section will be launched. With the support of the city of Milan, Luca FOIS, founder of Milan Design Week ZONA TORTONA and tenured professor at Politecnico di Milano, and renowned architect Michele Bruno, curator of the Chinese Urban Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale BRUNELLO jointly launched the "CHINA & DESIGN" Milan Design Week China Week project with opinion leaders, leading companies, professional media and industry platforms in the design field of China and Italy. This is the first country section on the Milan Design Week platform.

"Zhi" 2024

2024 is the year of communication and understanding. Understand China and Chinese design today; Learn about Milan and the local  Chinese community. Explore the organic renewal of Milan city with Chinese design; Seek consensus and identity, and let design intervene to achieve better community integration.

“Action" 2025

2025 is the year of practice. More design practice landing; More urban renewal projects were launched; More international cooperation; More Chinese design brands are coming out and coming down.

"Together" 2026

2026 is the year of platform integration. On the big platform of Milan Design Week, the small platform of "China Week" has begun to take shape. Participants of all parties find their own positioning and achieve specific positions. At this point, the internationalization practice of Chinese design brands has a new picture that is different from the past.

"One" 2027

Starting in 2027, we're going to do it all the way. A clear sustainable development mode has become an indispensable stage in the international design landscape.


MILAN CHINA DESIGN CENTER

Milan China Design Center is launched by Luca Fois, founder of Milan Design Week ZONA TORTONA  and tenured professor at Politecnico di Milano, and Michele Brunello, curator of the Chinese Urban  Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale, in collaboration with Chen Dongliang, vice-president  of the China Industrial Design Association, Liu De, one of the founders of the Xiaomi corporation,  Zhou Xiaoyan, chairman of the Milan Huaxia Group, and Vittorio Sun Qun, founder of BEIJING KEYI. To attain sustainable development and consolidate Milan's preeminent status in the domains of  international design, fashion, culture, and tourism, Milan China Design Center leverages key events  such as Milan Design Week, Fashion Week, Tourism Expo, the 2026 Winter Olympics, and others to foster  international cooperation and exchange in creative design. Our mission is to boost the global exposure of  Chinese design, enable Chinese brands to seamlessly integrate into the global market, and promote the  organic renewal and humanistic integration of Chinese neighborhoods.
